The Multicultural Education and Literacy Development (MELD) Lab engages in collaborative and cutting-edge research intended to improve the educational opportunities, experiences, and outcomes of students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Our mission is to improve our understanding of the interplay between the cognitive, linguistic, and socio-cultural factors of typical and atypical language and literacy development in monolingual and multilingual learners. We are motivated to develop and implement research-based educational programs to help all students develop the language and literacy skills needed to succeed.
